by I Seul Bee
\[ \newcommand{\vecf}{{\mathbf{f}}} \newcommand{\vecL}{{\mathbf{L}}} \newcommand{\vecR}{{\mathbb{R}}} \newcommand{\imI}{\boldsymbol{i}} \]

만약 \[ \lim_{\mathbf{x}\rightarrow \mathbf{c}} \lVert \vecf (\mathbf{x}) - \vecL \rVert = 0 \] 을 만족시키는 벡터 \(\vecL \in \vecR ^d\)가 존재하면

이때 \(\vecL\)을 ‘\(\mathbf{c}\)에서 \(\vecf\)의 극한’이라고 부르며, 이 상황을 기호로 \[ \lim_{\mathbf{x}\rightarrow \mathbf{c}} \vecf (\mathbf{x}) = \vecL \] 또는 \[ \vecf (\mathbf{x}) \rightarrow \vecL \quad\text{as}\quad \mathbf{x}\rightarrow \mathbf{c} \] 와 같이 나타낸다.

  1. \(\vecf : \vecR \rightarrow \vecR ^3\)가 \[ \vecf (x) = (2x+3 ,\, x-4 ,\, 1-x) \] 로 주어졌다고 하자. 그러면 \(-2\)에서 \(\vecf\)의 극한은 \[ \lim_{x\rightarrow -2} \vecf (x) = \left( \lim_{x\rightarrow -2}(2x+3) ,\, \lim_{x\rightarrow -2}(x-4) ,\, \lim_{x\rightarrow -2}(1-x) \right) = (-1,\,-6,\,3) \] 이다.
  2. \(\vecf : \vecR ^2 \rightarrow \vecR ^2\)가 \[ \vecf (x,\,y) = (f_1 (x,\,y) ,\, f_2 ( x,\,y)) \] 로 주어져 있고, \[ f_1 (x,\,y) = x+2y , \quad f_2 ( x,\,y) = -x+3y \] 라고 하자. 그러면 \((2,\,1)\)에서 \(\vecf\)의 극한은 \[ \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (2,\,1)} \vecf (x,\,y) = \left( \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (2,\,1)} f_1 (x,\,y) ,\, \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (2,\,1)} f_2 ( x,\,y) \right) = (4,\,1) \] 이다.

\(D\)가 \(\vecR^2\)의 부분집합이고 \[ f:\left\{x+y\imI \,\middle|\, (x,\,y)\in D\right\}\rightarrow\mathbb{C} \] 가 복소함수이며 \[ f(x+y \imI ) = u (x,\,y) + v(x,\,y) \imI \] 로 주어졌다고 하자. \(a,\) \(b,\) \(A,\) \(B\)가 실수이고 \((a,\,b)\)가 \(D\)의 집적점이며 \(z_0 = a+b \imI\)라고 하자. 그러면 \[ \lim_{z\rightarrow z_0} f(z) = A+B \imI \] 이기 위한 필요충분조건은 \[ \lim_{(x,\,y) \rightarrow (a,\,b)} u(x,\,y) = A \quad\text{and}\quad \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (a,\,b)} v(x,\,y) = B \] 가 성립하는 것이다.

  1. 만약 \(u:\mathbb{C}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}\)가 \[ u(x+y \imI ) = x-2y \] 로 주어지면 \[ \lim_{z\rightarrow 1-2 \imI} u(z) = \lim_{(x,\,y) \rightarrow (1,\,-2)} (x-2y) = 5 \] 이다.
  2. 함수 \(f : \mathbb{C} \rightarrow \mathbb{C}\)가 \[ f(x+y\imI ) = u(x,\,y) + v(x,\,y) \imI \] 로 정의되어 있고, \[ u(x,\,y) = x-2y ,\quad v(x,\,y) =3x+4y \] 라고 하자. 그러면 \(1-2\imI\)에서 \(f\)의 극한은 \[ \begin{align} \lim_{z\rightarrow 1-2\imI} f(z) &= \lim _ {(x,\,y) \rightarrow (1,\,-2)} \left\{ u(x,\,y) + v(x,\,y)\imI \right\} \\[4pt] &= \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (1,\,-2)} u(x,\,y) + \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (1,\,-2)} v(x,\,y)\imI \\[4pt] &= 5-5\imI \end{align} \] 이다.
  3. 함수 \(g : \mathbb{C} \rightarrow \mathbb{C}\)가 \[ g(x+y\imI ) = (x^2 + y^2 ) - (x+y) \imI \] 로 주어졌다고 하자. 그러면 \(3+2\imI\)에서 \(g\)의 극한은 \[ \begin{align} \lim_{z \rightarrow 3+2\imI} g(z) &= \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (3,\,2)} (x^2 + y^2 ) - \lim_{(x,\,y)\rightarrow (3,\,2)} (x+y) \imI \\ &= 13-5 \imI \end{align} \] 이다.
